UPHIA Monitoring Team Engages Nakapiripiriti district in Health Data Collection

Nakapiripirit District, Uganda – The UPHIA 2024–2025 monitoring exercise has successfully penetrated Nakapiripiriti district marking another significant milestone in the nationwide health data collection campaign.

In a collaborative effort, the UPHIA Monitoring Team, Team 1, and the Regional Mobilization Team held an EA entry meeting with the local leadership, including the LC1 Chairman .The chairman warmly welcomed the team and acknowledged the government, through the Ministry of Health and Makerere University School of Public Health, for prioritizing the health of his community.

The LC1 expressed gratitude for the survey's focus on HIV testing and awareness, as well as screening for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, obesity, and high blood pressure. He commended the initiative as timely and essential for the well-being of his people. "This is the first time such an important health initiative is reaching deep into our community. I encourage all residents to participate actively and provide valid health data that will help inform national planning," he said

Regional Mobilization Coordinator, Ms. Acen Sharon, attributed the successful mobilization to the consistent support from the UPHIA management team. "Timely facilitation in terms of transport, finances, and moral support has enabled us to reach even the most remote EAs," she said. Ms. Sharon noted that early sensitization by the mobilization team laid the groundwork for strong community engagement, making the data collection exercise smoother and more productive.

The UPHIA survey continues to emphasize the importance of voluntary participation, confidentiality, and accurate data sharing. Community involvement, as demonstrated in in the district , remains central to the survey's goal of informing Uganda's health policies and interventions with reliable data.
