UPHIA 2025 Mobilization Gains Ground in Kyabakuza A, Masaka City – South Buganda Region
The Uganda Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (UPHIA) 2025 enters an active phase in ), Masaka City, as mobilization teams successfully engage the community in preparation for national health data collection.
Regional Mobilization Coordinator Mr. Tonny Tindyeebwa leads the exercise, working closely with local leaders to recruit community mobilizers and sensitize residents. The mobilization exercise runs smoothly, and residents respond positively, clearly understanding the goals and benefits of UPHIA 2025.
Conducted by the Ministry of Health–Uganda in partnership with Makerere University School of Public Health, UPHIA 2025 focuses on gathering crucial health data from selected households across the country. Health experts collect blood samples, conduct HIV testing, and record vital health indicators related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, high blood pressure, and obesity.
Those who test positive for HIV receive immediate counseling and referrals to nearby health facilities for further care and treatment. This community-centered approach ensures early diagnosis, strengthens linkage to care, and enhances Uganda's health response.
The data collected during this national exercise informs government decisions on health policies, resource allocation, and planning. It provides a clear picture of the current health status of Ugandans and supports evidence-based strategies to combat HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases.
UPHIA 2025 stands as a critical step in improving public health outcomes, and community participation remains key to its success. Residents across the country are encouraged to welcome the data collection teams and contribute to building a healthier Uganda.
